I'm fairly new to writing my own filters and was just wondering if there were already an existing filter to search for a "golden cross" in stocks before I write one myself? I'm not being lazy, I'm just checking if there is such a thing already out there.

Ah gee, you're right. It is a lot easier than I thought. Thank you. I'll now proceed to PRINT out the ENTIRE user guide like I should have instead of just reading bits of it on my screen. Thanks again to those who took some time with a newbie.

How has this fared?
Here are the crossovers for the last 5 years:
11/05/2004: enter SPY at 117.28
07/19/2006: exit SPY at 125.69
Yield: 7.2% over 20 months
09/08/2006: enter SPY at 130.28
12/21/2007: exit SPY at 148.91
Yield: 14.3% over 15 months
06/23/2009: enter SPY at 89.35
today: SPY at 111.38
Yield: 24.6% in just over 5 months
3 trades in 5 years, but you completely mised the entire meltdown in 2008. You got in on the rally a little late, but still making good change.
